What a lovely cottage, feels like a real home, set in beautiful countryside. Made a really nice short break for us and feel we are going back de-stressed! Mission accomplished.

What a lovely place to stay. Warm and cosy and a comfy bed! Great location. Lots of places to visit, we really enjoyed the walks, fun on the cycle trail and eating out. Great meal at 'The Ostrich' with open fire. The Freestone family.

A warm welcome, great accommodation, wonderful scenery and unbelievable weather - what else can you ask for! P Kinch.

Fantastic cottage. Every amenity supplied. Delicious welsh cakes and milk in fridge a real bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our evenings sitting at the front watching beautiful sunsets and the sheep in the field. Helen, Steve & Barbara.

Our second visit has been just as enjoyable as the first and a couple of damp days didn't spoil things as there's so much to do. Having found this gem of a cottage we'll definately return for more of the wonderful Forest of Dean. Sue & Clare

Another lovely week at "Cowshed" (third visit!). Enjoyed watching the lambs chasing each other on the ridge. Saw red kites at Tintern, deer at Mallards Pike and three wild boar near Speech House. J. & J. Williams

Had a lovely time at Cowshed Cottage, with a warm greeting and a welcome pot of tea. Cottage has first class facilities, and well deserves the 4-star rating. D. Abba

Lovely cottage in a fab setting, and a lovely welcome by Eileen with tea and cake. Beautiful area, so well placed to visit Forest of Dean, Wye Valley walks and edge of Black Mountains.Would certainly visit again. C&J Brooks and family

The best self catering accommodation we have every stayed in. Eileen has obviously put a lot of thought into the detail and the cleanliness is second to none. Superb area - more than a week's worth of 'activities' with 15 minutes drive. We hope to return in the Autumn.
S.Rowlett.

This cottage has got everything we needed, nice and quiet, handy for the forest. Really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to others. C & J Johnson

Wow! What can we say? Absolutely wonderful stay in a cosy, clean cottage with a lovely welcome of tea and Welsh cakes. Spoiled for choice of things to do. Symonds Yat and Kymin are absolute musts for views, Puzzlewood great for kids. If you like eating out The Ostrich down the road is great as well as the Wyndham arms in Clearwell. Walking opportunities are endless and a return visit is definitely on the cards! The Morleys, Nov 2012

Enjoyed a lovely week in this beautiful cottage. Warm welcome with tea and cake - yummy! First visit to the beautiful area, hopefully not the last. The Chapmans, Oct 2012

Thank you for your warm welcome. Cowshed is great, the best we have stayed in. We enjoyed Sculpture Trail, Pedalabikeaway were very helpful (tricycles to ride), visited Monmouth and Tintern. Baker family August 2012

Like many other visitors we found the cottage very comfortable and we appreciated all the extras and the thought behind them. Places we visited which others haven’t mentioned included the Dean Heritage Museum, Caldicot Castle, Carleon Roman Fort, Tredegar House, Newport. Mr and Mrs Cogger

Our second visit for a family reunion and holiday. Enjoyed a wonderful welcome and the weather behaved so the “guide” books which could occupy another week of reading took a back seat this year. The Walker Family

Had a lovely stay - very lucky to see wild boar on the way back from a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Minors’ Arms (great desserts!). What a gem! We have never stayed in such clean/well equipped self-catering accommodation. Thank you so much Eileen! The weather wasn't bad (Feb) and we enjoyed Clearwell Caves, Go Ape, Puzzlewood, Sculpture Trail - also chased the Severn Bore! No problem keeping active teenagers entertained here... will highly recommend to friends. Codd family, Hampshire.

Had a successful birdwatching trip, enjoyed Puzzlewood, Caerleon & Caerwent, also Westbury Water Gardens. Found lovely car park by River Severn in Newnham. Very good base for the Forest here, and lovely setting. Having a 'back'
problem, I enjoyed the 'high' chair in lounge. Paddy & Ann, Warwicks.

A very big thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome. Cowshed is so warm and clean, never have we had a holiday let so good! Will recommend you to family and friends, you deserve your 4 STAR rating and more. R & S Parker.

Such a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings, we just had to come back for a second visit. The weather was much kinder this year and we’re so glad we made it to the Monmouthshire show. Many thanks Eileen for dropping in the map and programme – such thoughtful touches helped make another fantastic holiday here. Angie, Sue & family.

This is a lovely place to have a family reunion and a calm restful holiday. Accommodation was most comfortable – we even learnt how a dishwasher works! Everyone we met was extremely kind and welcoming. There are plenty of places nearby to spend as much time as available to sightsee, walk and enjoy. Cowshed Cottage had a totally comprehensive “library” of local travel guides, a tribute to the owner. Thank you from us all. Peter & Liz, Ayrshire.

Cowshed Cottage is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. Had a lovely time with plenty to see and do. We had a very warm welcome from Eileen, the cottage is very comfortable and very well equipped, we couldn’t have asked for more. Peter & Barbara, Hampshire.

Without doubt, “Cowshed Cottage” has proved to be the most well equipped, clean and presentable holiday accommodation that we have had the pleasure of staying in. You are both a credit to the hospitality industry. Many thanks for a lovely week and our best wishes for the future. Brian and Carol.

Eileen’s warm welcome was the perfect start to a very happy week in the Forest. We’ve really enjoyed staying in Cowshed Cottage, the attention to detail and provision of so many extras are really appreciated. Thank you. P & T Wright.

Lovely time in the F.O.D
Lots to do and lots to see
And if you need somewhere to eat
“The Ostrich” – very hard to beat
Cowshed Cottage has it all
We’re sad to leave
We’ve had a ball!

Don, Jane & Marilyn

We have had a lovely stay here in this spotless cottage, very well equipped. On-site owners with all the local knowledge you need. Lots of thoughtful and much appreciated extras particularly the lovely “cakey” welcome. Richard & Jackie, Pam & Philip.

We have had a great week in “Cowshed” which is so well equipped, comfortable and well cared for. We enjoyed good outings especially Symonds Yat, Raglan Castle and The Kymin. Above all the views and the peacefulness, loved the sheep too! A special day was our last day here when we found the walk down to Newland via the “burial path”! The church is beautiful and we had a very good lunch at ‘The Ostrich’. A. Bright, Norfolk.

Lovely cottage – you really have thought of everything – it was a pleasure to stay here – thank you, we’ll be back for more cake! The Haydons, Worcs.

We have had a fantastic week at Cowshed Cottage – a beautiful location. We enjoyed trips to some wonderful castles at Chepstow, Caerphilly, Raglan, Goodrich and Tintern Abbey. We did an amazing 14 mile cycle ride around the Forest of Dean – some challenging uphill climbs for our 10 year old, but well rewarded by the superb downhill sections and a beautiful picnic spot all to ourselves at the highest point. Highly recommend the ‘Rally round the Forest’. Juliet, Mark & family.

Once again a most enjoyable holiday. Eileen and John have made sure that there is everything you may need at “Cowshed”, a lovely cottage. Puzzlewood is worth a visit, a day earlier and we would have seen the BBC filming new series of Merlin. We haven’t been disappointed with any of the visitor attractions and when it comes to walks, you really are spoilt for choice, Nagshead, Mallards Pike, New Fancy – ask Eileen for the ones on the doorstep. Nice to watch the Buzzards out of the lounge window – we saw four! Thank you very much (for now) Graham & Barbara.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location, with perfect week’s weather – heaven! Chris, Sue, Mark & Adam.

Once again a wonderful time, even without the car! We walked for miles. So much to explore. We will be back! Thanks Steve & Rachel.

Up in Yorkshire we don’t like wasting anything / ‘owt’, including ink! Just read the last six pages in visitors book – then double it. Thank you Eileen and John. ‘Reet glad we came’. Graham & Barbara, West Yorks.

Excellent accommodation with everything we needed. A friendly and helpful host was on hand if needed. We love this area, our top activity was walking through the forest with 2 llamas and donkey and trap on hand for a ride…ask Eileen for info on this trip!

Thanks for not only all “mod. cons.” and home comforts, including flowers, but also for that great personal touch to make sure we had all we needed. This is an excellent centre for walking in the Forest of Dean / Wye Valley. D. Wigner, Surrey.

Wonderful week of walking from this lovely base. Attention to detail by Eileen and family greatly appreciated. It’s those additional touches that add to a holiday. The Duke of Wellington once considered buying this farm – he didn’t know what he was missing! C. McCann, Pembs.

Thank you Eileen for a lovely week in your cosy cottage. You even laid on lovely Autumn weather! We re-iterate all that has been said before – we enjoyed every minute.
